Branded Tracking Pages: Creating a winning strategy and design

A branded tracking page is an essential component of the post-purchase experience for customers, providing them with real-time updates on the status and location of their orders. With branded tracking, you can enhance the overall online shopping experience for your customers and reinforce your brand identity throughout the shipping process.

What should a branded tracking page include?

  1. Branding Elements: Ensure that the tracking page reflects your brand's visual identity, including website, logo, colors, fonts, and any other brand elements.

  2. Shipping Information: Provide detailed information about the shipment, including the shipping method, carrier name, tracking number, and expected delivery date.

  3. Real-Time Tracking: Your branded order tracking tool should have a tracking widget or tool that allows customers to see the real-time status and location of their package as it moves through the shipping process. This can include tracking milestones such as "Order Received," "Shipped," "Out for Delivery," and "Delivered."

  4. Order Summary: Display a clear summary of the customer's order, including the items purchased, quantities, and any relevant order numbers or identifiers.

  5. Start a return: Display an option to start a return or exchange directly from your tracking widget by integrating your returns platform. Customers visit this page from their order emails, so make it easy on them to take this step.

  6. Promotions: Take advantage of the tracking page as an opportunity for additional engagement by including promotional messages, related products, discounts, or offers related to future purchases.

  7. Your favorite Shopify website apps: If your branded tracking page is hosted in your Shopify theme it’s easy to add other widgets to your tracking page to drive the results your business wants. We’ll cover this in detail below!

  8. Customer Support: Offer easily accessible customer support options, such as a customer service email address, phone number, or live chat, in case customers have questions or concerns about their order.

  9. Mobile Optimization: Ensure that the tracking page is mobile-friendly and optimized for various devices, as many customers will likely access it from smartphones or tablets.

How to design an order tracking page

The top three things you should do before beginning your design process are:

  1. Define Key Elements: Determine the essential elements that need to be included on the tracking page, such as order summary, shipping information, real-time tracking updates, and customer support options.

  2. Define Your Business Objectives: Ask yourself what matters to the business? Do you care more about product education because you have high return rates? Do you want to drive repeat orders, UGC, subscriptions or referrals? Let your objective drive your design strategy.

  3. Create a Clear Layout: Design a clean and organized layout that makes it easy for customers to navigate the tracking page. Use clear headings, sections, and visual hierarchy to guide users through the information.
